Last year Tamworth Cricket Club entered a Team to hopefully raise some additional funds and have some fun along the way. Well…the fund raising was a great successes with over £2 thousand pounds been generated by kind sponsorship. This year we would like to see more club members come and give it a go. Daunting thought for some I know, but prior to last years event I had not run for over 30 years. Entering along with Craig (Sterlos) gave us both the impetus to get our selves that bit fitter, and we completed three half marathons during the second half of 2009.
The Great Midlands Fun Run is NOT A RACE. It's a fun event for people of all ages and abilities. Disability or age is not a barrier. Running with the kids is actively encouraged for the Family members, only down side is that the kids will leave you miles behind.
As an entrant you are encouraged to contribute towards the key objective - to provide financial support to charities and voluntary organisations - by collecting sponsorship money for a charity/voluntary group of your choice.
The Fun Run is staged over an 8.5mile route all on tarmac. The start is in Sutton Coldfield town centre from where you enter Sutton Park @ Boldmere Gate, negotiate approx 4.5 miles in the park including 'Cardiac Hill' (its not that bad), and exit @ Four Oaks Gate before returning to the finish in the town centre. A route map can be found by visiting the information tab at the top of the home page.
Everyone who completes the course receives a specially minted medal - sponsored by Cookes Furniture.
